This morning, I am enjoying a toasted slice of AbigialsOven Cinnamon Swirl Sourdough Bread slathered with Nutella to celebrate #NationalCinnamonDay, which is today. This bread make great toast all buttered it up, or smeared with cream cheese and piled up with few berries. It also makes fabulous French toast!

If you need a loaf stop our Store at the Bakery at 421 South 200 East in Spanish Fork, Utah, or at any of 30+ other Utah and Nevada locations (click here to find the nearest store https://www.bullseyelocations.com/pages/abovenbreadlocat).

We know that most of you have not been able to inhale the intoxicating aroma of this bread as it comes out of the oven, so let us explain the process:

Our bakers have been busy since 7AM making Cinnamon Swirl Sourdough Bread for you today.

If you were here a the bakery, you would have seen several stainless steel tables covered in rolled-out dough first thing, (because we bake this bread first). After the dough is spread evenly it is covered with Vietnamese Cinnamon and then topped with raw sugar.

Then these huge flats of dough are sliced into 2.2 lb pieces androlled up, jelly-roll style. Each loaf is then proofed for 45–60 minutes before being placed into its own individual Dutch oven to be baked in our 460°F ovens. After 40 minutes of baking, loaves are placed on racks to cool until our slicers arrive this afternoon.

Then every loaf will be packaged, ready for delivery tomorrow. But if you are lucky enough to be in our area, you can pick up an uncut warm loaf anytime between noon and 5PM all weekdays, but Wednesday.

By the way, this loaf is a favorite with children, the perfect comfort loaf, sweet with aromatic cinnamon. Great as toast or French toast.

“Cinnamon truly is one of America’s favorite holiday spices; it’s warm, sweet, and a bit spicy. It makes both sweet and savory foods delicious during the holiday season,” reports … “As our most sold holiday spice this time of year, we wanted to give cinnamon the attention it deserves, as well as honor people with this unique name. We’re declaring this #CinnamonSeason, and rallying lovers of this flavor everywhere to celebrate the spice rack’s unsung hero.”

7 Delicious Recipes Using Abigails Oven Cinnamon Swirl Sourdough Bread

  1. APPLE STUFFED FRENCH TOAST
Just prepare the bread as you would for any French Toast, then layer one well-buttered side with tart green apple slices that have been smothered with brown sugar and cinnamon, top with the second slice of French toast, and grill both sides until crisp. Then top with more cinnamon and sugar and pop it under the broiler for one minute. Serve piping hot topped with vanilla ice cream or sweetened heavy cream—it will turn out more like apple pie than you might expect. And personally, I never eat apple pie without a slice of extra sharp cheddar cheese on top, which could easily replace all of the sweet toppings.
  2. TOASTED S’MORES SANDWICH
Make this sandwich by spreading butter onto one side of each slice of bread. Place bread butter sides down in your pan, heat to toast the bread. Spread marshmallow fluff or Nutella on each side. Then cover one exposed side with mini marshmallows and the other with a generous layer of chocolate chips. Place this under the broiler just until the marshmallow is soft and golden brown, like a grilled cheese sandwich but with melted chips and gooey marshmallows. Split and enjoy!
  3. DOUBLED CINNAMON TOAST
Pop a slice or two into your toaster, then slather it generously with butter, and sprinkel the tops with your own mix of cinnamon and sugar or honey.

“The holiday season warms up with #NationalCinnamonDay on November 1st. It’s the spice that ushers in a season while being versatile all year long…. cinnamon’s quintessential warmth fills our homes with welcoming scents like no other. For generations, cinnamon elicits fond memories of holidays with family. It sweetens apple pies and is the base for pumpkin spice. With just a touch, it kisses the snickerdoodle, too. We raise a toast with it on chilly evenings in frothy beverages. And cinnamon preserves our bounty all season long.
“Hot, cold, savory, and sweet, cinnamon fills our memories throughout the holidays. [And data shows that] cinnamon was the most purchased holiday spice in 2018. It’s the ideal spice to create gifts and bring cheer into the home. How will you use cinnamon this season?”
